From a different perspective!

I said no 1000 to question after question, like can I have this, can we have ice cream now, can i climb this tree, can I go in the casino, just to name a few. I carried children on my shoulders all day, to  the notary, the the photo lab, to the park to the pool, to the restaurant. I have been jumped on, kneed in the crotch, changed my first dirty diaper ever, and had chilli poured into my shoe, crammed in the back seat of 2 taxis with children and a stroller, been a monster, a pillow, a skateboard, and a ride at 6 flags. Does this sound like a normal day in the life of a father? Needless to say, I am tired and ready for bed.

I do have some prayer requests. We have seen a tendency that because we are American, we are being asked to pay exuberant amounts more for things, which really annoys me, and causes the stress level to rise. Also, there are some other issues, that are hindering at this time. Pray that the process speeds up, I was told today it would take 8-10 business days for a document that I need next tuesday. So I had to pay an extra $100 for them to move quickly. The Hotel is quite a ways from the childrens home, which has made a transportation a little tricky at times. Pray for our safety, and awareness. We do not have a place to cook, and getting out after dark to eat is quite dangerous on foot.  They have raised these children as their own for a year and half to two years. It is going to be a Hard day. They are throwing a party for our children at their school tomorrow, which will be happy and really sad.
Pray for the other children who are not being adopted, Many of them have been really upset due to their connection with opur children. The are leaders, super close, and have many good friends. Right now they are excited, but Hugo told me he would be super sad on Sunday.  Also, the House parents are going to have a super hard time.
Pray for our doctor appointments at 5 pm tomorrow. We have know idea what to expect.
Also, pray for our spiritual preparedness each day, because the days are going to get long just waiting on appointments, which we have no say so in, and really throw off the childrens schedules. Pray that marianne and I will have time to talk, and plan, and work together. Today felt very much like, you take this ones hand and I will take the other two, and get there as fast as we can. The plan has been to keep them moving so fast  that they are exhausted. I hope that you will continue to share in the joys and heartaches with us through the things we are posting on the blog. We have only been here 4 days, but please pray that the process will speed up and we may be able to leave sooner than the expected date.

We are reading an adoption parenting book, before bed, so i hope to hear from you soon. Tomorrow begins legal gaurdianship, which means first supper, baths that we are responsible for, bedtimes and many more challenges. How is that for a birthday present? You are now fully responsible for 3 lives to grow in wisdom and stature with the Creator of the Universe! Talk about a reminder of your birthday, Happy 30th to me.  Headed to bed,

Talk to you soon,
Brent

PS We got Hugo a Lebron jersey in the USA, and I cannot wait for him to wear it and watch them play this weekend in Spanish. Go Heat

in our prayers and happy birthday pappi we love yall
Happy birthday, Brent. Happy day, Marianne. Happy day to the children. I love all the pictures. Glad to hear you are reading Spock. Old advice but stayed and true. I read Spock a lot and used his advice in parenting Mike and Shannon. Oh, on second thought, you better throw that book away, far, far away. Just kidding. You know them.

Prayers are with the two of you and the children. Right now my favorite Bible verse is Psalm 25:4-5. So I pray God make known His ways, teaches His paths, leads you in His truth for He is our salvation. Remember, your fears help you turn for instruction and guidance and they prove we are human.

Much love,
Aunt Martha

Happy Birthday! The five of you are never far from my thoughts. While these are long and uncertain days, use them wisely. You cannot get these days of giving them your full attention in their birth country back. Enjoy being together without the distractions of job, cooking, housework, school, church,activites...that pull everyone in different directions. At home it's a much more difficult task of divide and conquer. Keep your eyes looking into your Father's and then when you look into their eyes you will reflect the love and glory of the perfect Father. Work together, much love!

I'm so proud and happy for all of you. Your kids are absolutely beautiful! I know (not firsthand yet, but still, I know) that not all of this process is pretty. Please don't hesitate to call on Tim and me if you just need to talk or vent to someone. We are praying for you, and we are absolutely thrilled that ya'll are now a family, God is being glorified through the process, and that more people will understand what it means to be brought into the kingdom of God. Ya'll are amazing! I hope we're next!
