Do not be terrified....

There are two verses that have come to me recently and I wanted to share them with you.

The first came out of the Jesus Calling devotional. It was from June 23. But it wasn't the 23rd day. I was behind or ahead or something. Anyway, the main idea: God's continual Presence with you and never facing anything alone. My thoughts were pretty distracted that morning. We were at home all day and I was thinking about the fact that the kids would argue and I probably wouldn't know how to handle it. I'm not super confident in my parenting abilities. Most of the time I feel that I don't know what to do. That was my mindset as I was reading the verses that Sarah Young listed below her thoughts. The one that struck me was Deuteronomy 31:6.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

I smiled, really big. HA!  Life application that morning: Do not be afraid or terrified of the kids or because of the kids and their messes/arguments/issues. God will go with you when have to handle the argument or nuclear meltdown.

IF only I would stop, pray quietly (or outloud!), and breathe deeply before opening my mouth. IF I did that, there might be less stress in my home. God will be with you and give you patience, wisdom, creativity, calmness, words, love, patience, kindess, gentleness, calmness, self-control, understanding, patience, selflessness, good ideas etc. Did I mention patience and calmness? *wink*

IF I ask, God will give help!

I feel a bit more confident with the verse in my corner. Hopefully I will practice this truth and the results in my home will be different.

Hope you can take this verse with you too!

Verse 2 is for another post, soon.
