It's Graduation Day!

Graduation Day, also known as "Speech Day" here, was full of smiles and excitement
for the Top Class (Kindergarten) at the House of Hope!
These photos are a little late, as graduation was on November 29, but better late than never!

Before the presentations began, we had tea for the families.

Each class gave a presentation of songs and one class included a skit after their songs.
There were awards given out to each class. Each class had several awards given.

Then our little Top Class came with their graduation gowns and hats. They were so cute!
They were presented with diplomas that had of photo of themselves on their diploma.

When their name was called, each child came and greeted their teacher the same way
they are greeted every morning when they arrive at school.
Greetings are: high-fives, hugs, or a little dance!

There were 22 graduates total!

It was a full house!

Afterwards, lunch was served and we passed out the backpack gifts by classes.

Thank you so much to Mantee Baptist Church and Discovery Church in Mississippi for giving
shoes and the backpacks full of gifts to the children. They LOVED them.
The shoes were given out earlier in the week so that each child would have the correct size.

Some kids were already wearing their shoes!

Backpack, Backpack!

These are a few of the teachers who wanted their photos made

And Ms. Bettye who cleans the school wanted her photo taken too!

The photos below are of a girl named Rachel. Brent met her when they he brought a mission team to HOH in March. Rachel was not able to go to school because of some medical issues and there was fear that she had been abused. Because of some of these issues she wasn't able talk or understand what was being said to her.

Michael, Kellie, and the mission team prayed over her and for her family and were able to bring her family some basic necessities, such as a mattress, food, hygiene items, etc. Michael and the team were able to get Rachel medical treatment.

By the end of the trip in March, Lindsey was able to write some things out and Rachel could understand what she said.

Rachel also benefited from the dental mission team that came in November 2 from FBC Tuscaloosa.

Rachel's mom remembered Brent from the trip in March. She was so happy to see him. She brought him to see Rachel again. This time Rachel could talk and understand what was being said.
Brent said she seemed like a totally different child than when he first met her.

Looking at photos from the trip in March

I can't post all the photos from Speech Day because there are so many, but I hope you enjoyed these!
