WE ARE IN LIMA!!!!!!

This sums up how I feel. I thought you could all use a good laugh.
Well, I have not had the chance to get online in in a few days, and to be honest, I am not sure what Marianne, or even I have blogged about. All of the days have really run together, and it has seemed like an eterinty at times. Today feels like we have turned the corner into the rest of our lives.  It has been a really intense few days to say the least. The adoption was finalized on Monday, which meant we had to get new birth certificates. We sat in a dark office room for well over 2 hours waiting on a piece of paper. Many of you have wondered why we have to be in Peru for five weeks, well the answer is i am not sure they know what they are doing sometimes. We had to have 5 people stamp a receipt before we could pay, all in different offices, then she walked 4 blocks to get copies made. It equated to a 5 hour taxi fare for 120 soles equal to around 45 dollars. But it meant Hugo was legally our child. Tom the travelled to the town of the girls to due to same process. after an all night bus ride and an even longer process he returned home with papers in hand, to make the girls our daughters officailly. The only problem is that the man in charge, had never done a power of attorney, and didnt have him sign it. SCREAMMMMMM! Tom asked him point blank and he said no, so the papers are no good. So it pushes our appointments back a few days. on a different note, the registrar is also a christian pastor, and new the case. He told tom they had been praying for the children to be placed in a christian home. I though that was pretty awesome.

We did have one final get together witha all of the children from the childrens home, the house parents, and volunteers last night, at a chicken place with a ball pit. Seems to be a real treat for the Peruvians. The kids were so excited. It was a rather difficult night for Cesia and Hugo. Both wept for a really long time after we got home. Cesia, was because she had seen Mama Janet, and Hugo realized he would probably never see some of his friends again. Olenka was typical Olenka, it really hasn't phased her. She did have a really rough night a couple of days ago, when she realized her mother new she was being adopted and was sad for her children. It is the first time she has shown any real emotion. Between my wife and kids, I have had more tears shed on my sholder in the past 2 weeks, than i think i have in my entire life.

\Today was their first plane ride, and they did remarkably well. they asked to look at some pictures tonight of our friends and family in the US. We showed them pictures of as many things as we could on Facebook, including snow, and our house, and lots of the new baby. I have been really homesick the last couple of days, and as we were putting them to bed tonight both Hugo and Olenka were in tears. This is all so new and fresh, yet, their entire world is changing before their eyes. Please pray for them, and the firends they are leaving behind that so want a family of their own.

One funny story, before I head to bed, Yesturday, I was washing dishes while the children got dressed and mommy got a "shower". Turns out she was reading her Bible, which was totally fine. Hugo comes into the kitchen, and says "Pappi Come". So i go into the dining area, where Cesia has taken a towel from the back of the chair, and perfectly laid it on the floor. She then has preceed to climb into a chair, take the nestle quick from the table, and poor it all out onto the towel. Not the florr but the towel, so that she can eat it with both hands  and not eat off the floor. She eats everything else off the floor, just not chocolate. All in all the kids are doing really well. We  have had to start laying down the law on some discipline, in order to try to cut it off before we get home. Please pray that the paper work arrives when it is scheduled on saturday, so that we may begin our process in Lima on Monday morning. We miss you, and Love you all.

I am with April....LOVE the Nestle Quick story! With Sydney and Cooper (especially if they are together) I have always used the rule if they are quiet you better go check and see what is going on. Be ready for more instances like that with a 2yr old. There will be times when you have to get the camera and take a picture before you move on to discipline. I know all of you will miss your friends in Peru, but there are a whole bunch of people back here that are ready to step in and Love your family.

I had never seen a grown up Erkle, but I think Brent fits the bill. We miss you guys and are praying for you daily. Glad you made it to Lima. That is a major step toward Alabama and "normal". We will see you and your family soon. Trust the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.
