Day 9 - Something you held, passed by, and sat with

YAY!

Ok....yesterday....well.....let's just leave it there.  I didn't get any of the joys.  I didn't look very hard for them.

But onward and upward, right?!

Today was a lovely rainy day, the kind of rainy when it's perfect for staying home, cuddled up in warm blanket, with a good book or a movie. But that wasn't what happened. At least, in the beginning.

Our house is for sale and at 3:30 yesterday our realtor called to say that there was a couple coming to see it today between 9:30 and 11:00.

This is all fine and dandy, until you realize that you have to prepare in 24 hours a house for strange people to inspect and you haven't cleaned since Christmas-ish.

The over flowing mountain of dishes (not counting the ones left in other rooms), the piles laundry (including the clean clothes, 4 days old in the basket), the toys (we could probably open a toy store), the leftover wrapping paper rolls that were in the corner,  and the sticky sinks all had to cleaned.

I can't even comment on the floors. But I can tell you that the NDBC was being hosted in our living room. The National Dust Bunny Convention. Yeah, it does exist.

This morning was spent "cleaning" what we didn't finish last night. Dishes were crammed into the dishwasher, a box of whatever was hidden in a closet, the kitchen towels wound up in the bathroom closet, and I shoved books and puzzles that were lined up for Goodwill, along with dirty clothes, 1.95 yards of burlap, and construction paper into the dryer. Whew!

We left as fast as we cleaned. Brent headed to work and Elizabeth and I hung out at her favorite restaurant for a bit. When we got home, we were both ready for that cozy afternoon mentioned above, which continued until time for church.

The joys today are:

I sat with - Elizabeth. We hung out, crafting in the living room, watching The Ultimate Gift. You can check out the yellow headband, she crafted for me in the picture. If you notice, there is also an orange beaded necklace tied with black yarn for my necklace. Pipe cleaners and beads.  (Sorry for the picture quality)

I passed by -  The sweet 15-year-old girl who leads the worship for our youth on Wednesdays. She always brings a smile to my face. She lights up any room she walks in.

I held - dirty dishes. I know, I know. But here's my reasoning, washing those dirty dishes in the sink and then seeing them laying there to dry next to the sink, gave me a sense of accomplishment. So that's what I enjoyed about it. I also enjoy knowing I don't have to do them tomorrow and that my kitchen is clean(er).

Now, before you think I've totally lost it, most of the dishes were in the dishwasher beside me!

That is your assignment - go wash your dirty dishes and enjoy your accomplishment.
I will send an "eshet chayil!!" your way.   (click here for eshet chayil meaning)

Happy washing!
