Funnies and Quotes
Kids are hilarious.
Breanna. She is one crazy cat. It's been in the 30's lately and the 20's at night. The other day, she opened her window. No one noticed that the window was open. You would have thought that some adult around here would have noticed, but nope we just went about business as usual, never realizing that the icicles were threatening to come inside and warm up! The child slept all night. Heat blasting and cold wind blowing. Have mercy, what if rained. It was 50 degrees in Breanna's room the next morning. We noticed. We were shocked. We laughed.
Elizabeth. She pretty much keeps us in stitches. I think it must some inherited duty of the third child to be the happy, go lucky, clowny kid. The other day she asked Brent if Jesus was in his heart or if he was around him. Brent just answered "yes". Elizabeth, then wanted to know if we could talk to Jesus. Again, "yes". Immediately, Elizabeth pulled the collar of Brent's shirt away from his neck, looked inside the shirt and say "Hey Jesus!"
I'm pretty sure even the angels were falling over laughing!
I like it when things coincide. Like my devotion for today and Chapter 3.

EK from today |
Ann Voskamp speaks of finding joy in a supermarket. Otherwise known to me as Wal-Mart. We all know how we feel about going to Wal-Mart and I suppose there is joy found in a supermarket. My joy in Wal-Mart is usually found when I walk out of the chaos that is Wal-Mart.
Finding joy in everyday life, every day, in ordinary, in mundane, in the been here and done that 1000 times day.
Jennifer Rothschild, writer of my devotion, spoke of recognizing God in your ordinary moments.
Both Ann and Jennifer have such lovely words. I thought you should read them for yourself.
I'll start with Ann:
1. "Thanks is what multiplies joy...."
2. "...the habit of discontentment, can only be driven out (by joy)...."
3. "naming offers the gift recognition."
The next few are from Fingerprints of God by Jennifer Rothschild:
1. "Carefully consider what you use to try to fill yourself up, to satisfy your thirst."
2. "...when you recognize Him there, you'll find Him ready to satisfy your thirst completely."
They may not go together with you, but they did to me.
The reality of grace causes us to give thanks and giving thanks produces joy. Joy drives out discontentment.
Naming the thing that brings joy recognizes the Creator of all gifts.
Finding and searching for joy causes you to look in places in which you might not normally look. You have to look for it in the mundane, ordinary of everyday life. I think sometimes you have to create joy or joyful circumstances. I think this is done by changing your attitude, changing your heart, changing your plan for the day, changing scenery.
Today I decided that I feel like all my blogs are so serious. So I will try to lighten it up a bit! But these are my thoughts as I go through the JoyDare. I am just writing them out for me, so I can make sense and remember what I'm learning. And of course you are most welcome to read, if you're reading and if you don't mind the serious side sometimes.
